The Mandalorian season 2 finale review

Season 2 of The Mandalorian has come to an end and was a picture of fan service in the best way possible. Before we continue with our thoughts and review, this is your only warning of SPOILERS AHEAD.

Alright, now that it’s safe, let’s begin. The season 2 finale leaves a lot of questions about the future but is still satisfying overall. The big question most people might have is what is next for Din Djarin. The main focus for the majority of the series so far was his quest to get his buddy Grogu back to “his people.” Now that he’s completed that, what comes next. “The Rescue” leaves plenty to the imagination about the direction of the show. First is the Darksaber and the fate of Madalore. In the episode, Din beats Moff Gideon in combat and technically becomes the owner of the Darksaber. According to lore, that makes him the rightful ruler of Mandalore. Later Din is made aware of the significance of the saber by Gideon and tries to yield it to Bo-Katan so he can continue his quest to get Grogu to where he belongs. Moff Gideon then explains that its not that simple and it needs to be won in combat and can’t just be yielded to anyone. Bo-Katan agrees and before anything else can happen, the Darktroopers show up. This leaves a bit of a continuity issue because in Star Wars Rebels, it was established that the rules of the Darksaber are pretty flexible since Sabine Wren handed it to Bo-Katan then.

Next is what happens to little Grogu. The episode does a very good job at showcasing the bond between him and Din Djarin. Their bond becomes very apparent when Grogu reaches out to touch Djarin and he removes his helmet in front of a room full of allies, strangers and enemies to say goodbye to his little buddy. With that being said, will there be something in the future where this bond plays a role in Grogu’s development as a Jedi? We also know that in the Star Wars timeline, the Mandalorian takes place about 50 years after the original trilogy. With Luke being the Jedi that answered Grogu’s call, does that mean he was at Luke’s school when Kylo Ren kills all of Luke’s apprentices? I guess those questions would be for another post.

Finally, what happens to Moff Gideon. Again, the episode ends with a lot of unanswered questions. Moff Gideon gets knocked out by Mando but thats it. There is nothing else after that. Could he play a role further down the line?

Overall, the season finale of the Mandalorian was a satisfying cliff hanger. It is a love letter to the Star Wars universe that will keep you begging for what comes next.

Is Die Hard a Christmas movie?

In recent years there has been a heated debate as to if the action movie Die Hard is a Christmas movie. But how can a movie with guns, explosions, helicopters and plenty of bad guys ever be a Christmas movie? Well, we are here to answer that question for you.

Let’s start with the obvious. Die Hard has way too many Christmas references to ignore. The movie takes place right around Christmas so most scenes you will see some kind of decorations. The original trailer for the movie starts out with the song “Let It Snow.” John McClane’s wife, Holly even has a holiday themed name. Why wouldn’t this be a Christmas movie? Still not a believer? Then let’s continue.

If you take a look at the search trends on Google, you will notice a spike in searches for Christmas movies. When looking at Die Hard, you will also see similar trends right around holiday time, showing a sharp increase from November into December and then a sharp drop in January. Here at Someone’s Bad Idea, we don’t argue with numbers.

If you absolutely don’t want to take it from us (we put graphs in this post so we’re pretty official), then why not take it straight from the horses mouth. In 2018, 20th Century Fox released a trailer for the film’s 30th anniversary. We don’t want to tell you what they said so we’ll let you just watch for yourself.

Tom Holland posts first look at his portrayal of Nathan Drake

SIC PARVIS MAGNA

We are now starting to get our first looks at the new Uncharted movie that started filming in July.

It seemed to be a beeline to the finish for the Uncharted movie as covid halted production earlier this year. July to October is an impressive finish for a movie that has experienced delay after delay. Thankfully, this isn’t the only piece we get of the upcoming film. Nolan North, the original voice of Nathan Drake also tweeted set photos and one of his interaction with Tom Holland.

Naughty Dog seems primed for the big and small screens with the Uncharted movie set to hit theaters July 16, 2021 and The Last of Us tv series in development with HBO.

Sony gives a first look at PS5 UI

Sony has official revealed the user interface of the PS5 and it didn’t disappoint. A special State of Play launched with a blog post showcasing the new UX.

First up was the Control Center. From here, players can access everything they might need with one touch of the Playstation button. Managing controllers, checking on the status of downloads, and much more are all accessible from this main hub. Sony also unveiled a new feature called Activities, where users can see new gameplay or jump back to things they missed. The feature is accessed through Activity cards which will allow the player to easily jump to the content they are trying to complete.

The party system also got an update. Players will now be able to join parties with ease right from the control center. Sharing content in parties is also a breeze and keeps spoilers in mind by showing a warning to players in the party that the content may contain images from gameplay they haven’t accessed yet.

Sony built the system with speed in mind rebuilding “the entire software stack from the console to the network.” Sony said “We believe the less time you spend waiting to interact with the system, the more time you will have to spend playing games.”

The model is impressive in size, measuring over 4” high, 20” long and 22” wide once completed. The set also features a special brick that allows for the kit to mount and display on the wall for the full-on Bruce Wayne effect. Fans can even create the infamous scene when The Joker barges in on the Dark Knight and utters his classic words “have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?”.

LEGOÒ 1989 Batwing will be available for LEGO VIP members October 21st and for all other fans November 1st via LEGO.com and LEGO Stores.

In the beginning there was… retail?

So the name of the show probably made you wonder what this whole thing was about. Well, it’s a funny story and if you made it this far, I’m sure you want the full story. Buckle up. It’s going to be a not so bumpy ride.

It all started at a retail job. My friend Stefan and I were working together one night helping out these two great customers. This whole thing is basically their fault. Stefan and I would pass the time talking about all things that may be considered nerdy. Video games, movies, comics… you name it. This always transitioned over to in depth talks with our customers about these topics. Well this night was no different. These customers were ready to go and Stefan started cashing them out. A phone call came through and I answered like I normally do. After the call, one of them says, “you guys really should be on the radio.” Stefan and I looked at each other and laughed but the both of them were very serious. The further explained that our voices were great and they enjoyed the nerdy convo we had. We brushed it off and these customers went on their way. After they left we joked that we should start a podcast with the topic being everything geeky, nerdy and cool. Has a nice ring doesn’t it? We closed up shop at the end of the night and went home.

That night, I went online to see what it would take to start a podcast. It all went downhill from there. Long story short, I spent a good chunk of money getting equipment and then text Stefan the next day letting him know that we were actually going to do this and there was no turning back because I already bought the stuff. When we started recording we figured that just the two of us would be great but after listening to ourselves we thought something was missing. We needed more voices. That’s when we added Aaron and Tom to the mix. Together we created a diverse round table the likes of which hasn’t been seen since King Arthur. Ok, maybe not that cool, but still.

And now you’re pretty much caught up. There is quite a bit more but I think there should be some kind of mystery in this. On this site you’ll find news and opinion blogs on the world of pop culture. Star Wars, Marvel, DC, and video games. Theres so much more to list but I think you get the idea. We’re glad to have you here. Welcome to Someone’s Bad Idea.
