Sony gives a first look at PS5 UI

Sony has official revealed the user interface of the PS5 and it didn’t disappoint. A special State of Play launched with a blog post showcasing the new UX.

First up was the Control Center. From here, players can access everything they might need with one touch of the Playstation button. Managing controllers, checking on the status of downloads, and much more are all accessible from this main hub. Sony also unveiled a new feature called Activities, where users can see new gameplay or jump back to things they missed. The feature is accessed through Activity cards which will allow the player to easily jump to the content they are trying to complete.

The party system also got an update. Players will now be able to join parties with ease right from the control center. Sharing content in parties is also a breeze and keeps spoilers in mind by showing a warning to players in the party that the content may contain images from gameplay they haven’t accessed yet.

Sony built the system with speed in mind rebuilding “the entire software stack from the console to the network.” Sony said “We believe the less time you spend waiting to interact with the system, the more time you will have to spend playing games.”
